Seaman Jeff,
A most timely inquiry. At present, the Bay Area is gripped firmly by the chilly hand of Olde Man Winter. Gladiator costumes, with their preponderance of studs and bucklers, do indeed represent a safety hazard in this environment.
Your admiral might suggest a change of uniform into something perhaps more practical. The caveman look is always quite saucy, piled high with furs (fake, of course) that can then be tossed aside insouciantly as the wearer strips down to a sweaty loincloth whilst indoors. Accessorize with a bone (real or faux) for that authentic wild man look.
Your admiral,
Rear Admiral Phineas Fogg-Bottom
